Who is behind the Macuwell™ concept ?

The founders of Macuwell™, Gerold Bäcker and Steffen Geipel, are specialist opticians with years of experience. They met at a trade fair and soon learned that they had more in common than their professional title: It had always been important to both of them not just to sell glasses but to always have in-depth discussions with their customers and provide competent and comprehensive advice on their eye health.
They are particularly interested in the effect of blue light and the eye health risks that people in the digital era are exposed to.

Over the course of his work, Gerold Bäcker has specialized most intensively in nutrition and the structure of the eye. Steffen Geipel, a self-professed glass technology nut, developed his own lenses and filter technology to protect against blue light at an early stage of his career. With Macuwell™ they combine their skills to offer a holistic concept for naturally good vision which meets customers’ needs in a targeted, individualized way.
